Week 1 readings:

1.  “What is Theatre?” by Marvin Carlson. In Theatre. A Very Short Introduction. (Oxford, 2014) chapter 1

2.  Antigone by Sophocles (I like to offer other options to the students, so we could also have Oedipus Rex, Elektra, or other tragedies that are easily available online)

3.  Aristotle’s Poetics (excerpts, I usually use the document that is on my dropbox, but I would rather find an option that is online in our library, if there is one)
